  • What is Sea Glass?
Sea glass, (colloquially called 'Mermaids Tears),' is beautiful pieces of glass that have been tossed and tumbled by the sea for many years and eventually washed up on our shores. (All the seaglass I use is collected by me from my local Cornish beaches.) The iconic frosted surface is created over many, many years by the action of the tide, waves and sand. Depending on the type of glass, this can take up to 100 years to create the gorgeous texture. If you look closely, genuine natural sea glass should have tiny 'c' shapes across its surface. If it is not genuine natural sea glass, it is likely that it is any old piece of broken glass that has been put into a tumbling machine and passed off as sea glass. The glass comes in many colours, some very rare and others more prevalent. Ultra Rare: Orange , Turquoise, Red, Yellow. Black, Teal, Grey. Rare: Pink, Aqua, Cobalt Blue, Cornflower Blue, Amethyst Fairly Common: Amber, UV Green, Green Sea Foam Common: White, Brown, Bottle Green.
  • Are the materials you use sustainable?
I use only eco-sterling silver (925) and eco- silver clay (999) from reputable suppliers. Sea glass, obviously , recycled.
  • Are your pieces hallmarked?
If pieces silver or silver clay pieces weigh less than 7.78g then , by law a hallmark is not required. Most of my pieces are under this weight and therefore do not bear a hallmark. I do purchase all my silver (which is eco-silver), from one of the main suppliers to the industry.
